Tuning Notes
Warranty
When fitting this turbo, it is HIGHLY recommended to seek professional tuning.
I order to increase boost pressure above 18PSI, a boost Tee or Boost cotroller is required.
We have not tuned a vehicle with the turbocharger yet. Installation of a Exhaust Manifold Pressure sensor during tuning is advised. Estimates based on engine size and compressor size indicates efficeicy is probably around 22-24psi
It is not recommended to exceed 24PSI. Due to the way the VNT control works, a larger unit is recommended if you want more power.
Ensure you have no boost leaks. Boost leaks will cause over speeding of the turbo due to the VNT control type.
Do not exceed (pressure side) Exhaust Manifold Temperatures (EGTs) above 750c. This is likley to cause piston crown damage.
The performance of this turbo exceeds the stock 11mm pump capacity. With quality modifications and tuning, it is possible your tuner may see boost pressures as high as 30PSI safely.
We have done comprehensive testing of this unit on the TD42. The turbocharger is ideal for factory pump setups. This turbo will work with 12mm pumps no problem however a bigger unit is recommended. Tuning is mainly guided by Manifold Exhaust Gas Temperatures. Its common for injetors to need replacement. Faulty injectors cause excessive EGTS
